ERPMan's Lost PC BIOS Updates Found Page (Updated Friday July 18, 2008)

Note that this page is a work in progress and more stuff will be added on here soon.

Here are some BIOS Updates I have found for some old computers or motherboards:

Computer users looking for BIOS updates for NEC PowerMate V75, V90 & V100
notebook and NEC Ready 7022/9022/9522 desktop computers-
[BIOS for NEC Ready 9522 computer was listed on Wim's Wanted BIOS List page but
  I FOUND IT!]
For NEC Ready 9522 computer which I used to own but now gave it to my relatives.
Use the D1550cb3.exe file to create a BIOS update disk that will update the Phoenix
BIOS to version 4.05.V [revision 4.15].
<> Caution: The D1550cb3.exe files MUST be run in either native MS-DOS mode
or from a Windows 9x (NOT NT-based) DOS Window or this self extracting executable
may not create the BIOS Update disk correctly.  If you have an NT-based version of
Windows installed (such as Windows NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003 or Vista), restart the
computer and load either an MS-DOS Startup disk or a Windows 9x Boot System Disk
in the Floppy Disk drive.  Run the D1550cb3.exe file to create the BIOS Update disk from
native DOS mode.  Then put the BIOS Update disk in any of the NEC Ready machines
mentioned earlier to update the BIOS.
The NEC computers mentioned above use BCM FM540 or FM541 motherboards
which NEC (not BCM the motherboard maker nor the Phoenix BIOS chip maker) provide
BIOS updates for them.  The D1550cb3.exe file contains the Phoenix BIOS update
files that will update the BIOS to v4.05.V dated 3/29/1996 and may add support for
CPUs faster than 100 Mhz.  This BIOS version also is fully year 2000 ready to ensure
the NEC Ready 9522 PC will work correctly in the 21st century.

Computer users looking for BIOS updates for so-called KR636 Motherboards-
For those using a BCM/GVC motherboard that uses the following AMIBIOS ID string:

61-0731-001540-00111111-071595-440LX

This is most likely the AMIBIOS ID string for a KR632 motherboard which many
motherboard identification utilities out there "misidentify" it as a KR636 motherboard.
This motherboard uses Intel 440LX [NOT Intel 440EX] chipset & AMI (American
Megatrends) BIOS.  If a so-called KR636 motherboard uses Intel 440LX chipset
it's probably & really the KR632 motherboard.
The latest BIOS update for the KR632 motherboard is found here:
http://www.bcmcom.com/tech/kr632/kr632bios.asp

If a so-called KR636 motherboard uses Intel 440EX [NOT Intel 440LX] chipset,
then it is most likely to be an IN440EX motherboard which uses Award BIOS.
The latest BIOS update for the IN440EX motherboard is found here:
http://www.bcmcom.com/tech/IN440EX/in440exbios.asp

In other words, so-called KR636 motherboards are not really KR636 motherboards
and are usually mis-identified by most system utilities.

Caution:  Note that after obtaining & running BIOS updates for your system, you must
enter BIOS setup and reset your settings or load default settings so that the newer
BIOS version can work properly with the options you have selected in the BIOS setup
program.

For upgrading BIOSes on eMachine Computers:
Go here to the Unofficial eMachine Upgraders OEM BIOS page and look for the
appropriate BIOS update for your eMachine computer.  Also, all driver downloads
for eMachine computers are found here as the official eMachines Support site
has virtually nothing on any downloads for eMachine computers.

Let me know if you find any more hard-to-find BIOS updates out there on the web.

If you need to know what kind of BIOS your motherboard is using, download and
run the BIOS Agent tool.  Note that the latest version of the BIOS Agent tool may or
may not work properly when running BIOS Agent on computers with Insyde BIOS
or any other BIOSes not recognized by the BIOS Agent tool.

To download BIOS updates for your computer or motherboard, go to the web site
of the computer manufacturer or motherboard maker.  Don't bother visiting the web
sites of the actual BIOS makers because they never provide BIOS updates
directly to computer users.

You can also use BIOS tools listed at the Majorgeeks.com BIOS page to gather
BIOS info.

If your computer has an Intel motherboard, you can find instructions on updating
the BIOS on Intel motherboards here.

Also, see Wim's BIOS Forum site and post your request for a BIOS update or
post your BIOS problem there.
